• Plow with Care

Ask your snow removal team to use rubber or poly-edged blades. Steel blades can

scrape paint right off the asphalt, especially on uneven surfaces.

• Watch the Salt

While safety comes first, excessive rock salt acts like sandpaper under vehicle tires.

Consider using a liquid de-icer to help preserve the reflectivity of your striping.

• Strategic Snow Piling

Avoid piling snow over catch basins. As snow melts and refreezes, it can lead to

alligator cracking and potholes—costly repairs come spring.

• Clear the Signs

Heavy snow drifts can bend signposts. Keeping ADA (handicap) signs clear helps you

stay compliant and prevents posts from warping.

• The “Rainy Night” Test

Next time it rains, take a look at your lot. If the lines disappear under water, your paint

has likely lost its reflectivity.
